The new kiwifruit season is starting and we have all the connections to hook you up with a job while you're staying with us at Pacific Coast Lodge Backpackers here in Mount Maunganui. So why not extend your time here and make it a working holiday!
Spring brings a heap of new jobs to the Bay of Plenty region thanks to our orchard industry and the need for able and willing seasonal workers.
As the leading backpacker accommodation in the Bay, we are well-known for our connections and being able to set our guests up with seasonal work while they're staying with us. We work with the best contractors in the Bay and ensure you are placed with the best employers in the area.
Our proximity to the kiwifruit capital of the world, aka Te Puke, means we can offer a huge range and number of job opportunities to our guests interested in making their holiday a working holiday. In fact, 81% of New Zealand-grown kiwifruit comes from the Bay of Plenty region. This means jobs, jobs and more jobs!
Throughout the year there is plenty of orchard work opportunities available for our guests - from planting trees, to pruning, bud thinning and flower picking. The main fruit picking and packing season runs from March to June.
We are also able to help with transport to ensure our backpackers get to work on time and back home again plus this form of carpooling is better for the environment too.
